Using analogous color scheme

  1. The color photo is a good example of an analogous color scheme, however the lighting may have been too harsh which throws off the composition of the photo.

  2. The top photo is a really neat idea! The second one is harder to justify though, because although the colors are technically analogous, the viewer's instinct is to change them to normal in our heads because it looks as though it's just a mistake due to poor camera and lighting quality.

  3. i love that you used portraits for both of them to show different moods we can create with different color schemes. i agree with amelia. both of these lighting methods are a little harsh to look at. but i think its an interesting idea!

  4. I think you have some interesting concepts going on here and you executed the colors schemes well but overall the photos are a little hard to look at due to such harsh lighting.

  5. As has been mentioned, the lighting throws me off a little on the color one. I definitely think the black and white one would have been weaker in color, so good job on that. I just wish the images were a little sharper.

  6. I think both of these images work, I like the analogous color scheme. It is over exposed on the left side of the girls face. Overall good job!

  7. Great job with the black and white; super original and good range of values. I like the soft light that's reflected on his cheeks. Nothing to add, in my opinion!
In your color image, I like that the light lit up some of the girl's flyaway hair. It's a nice, soft detail that added some light-value interest over her head. Although, I think having the same hue cast over the whole image kind of flattens it. If there was a way to adjust the background's hue to differ from her, I think that would make it more successful.

The composition is nice and has some really great energy as well as flow. I only wish that the lighting was quite so harsh. It'd be stronger if the face was lit up maybe 25% more (this would also help the graininess of the photo quality - which is a bit distracting).

Nice composition and balance. I love how her blue eye stands out but still has some nice warmth to it. The color palette is working. The bottom left corner of the image is over-exposed, however, which really takes away from the rest of the piece. My eye instantly darts to that area of the piece, since it's the lightest in value by a long shot, and then moves to the actual focal point.
