Ahh such a cute puppy! I love that you chose to photograph the same subject. It showed us two different sides and feelings and the two together add depth to our understanding of this dog's personality; the top is all heart-wrenching sarah mclaughlin and the bottom one is just really cute and shows the dog's playful side.
I love the bottom photo especially. It is extremely successful. I agree that cropping might make the black and white a little more successful, but altogether I think it is great!
i also love the different moods in each of these photos. the black and white in the dog's pose helps create a more mature feeling, while the bright colors and the dog's pose in the second one are more childlike. i love all the color choices in the second one
I like these photos! The black and white compliment the dog's calmer side really well and and the vibrant colors in the bottom picture really create a playful mood.
The focus on the dog's head in the black and white image is very nice. The bright blue eyes in your second image make it work. It feels like a bit of information overload with all the details and different line directions (of the stick, fur, and grass), but the image works very well.
B+W GAH!! Puppies are my favorite!! The composition is really nice and I'm liking how you've place and cropped the subject. The puppy's nose is standing out really nicely against the white of its fur, which leads you nicely into the face.
Color The colors here are working, although really bright. The composition is nice here too; the piece has some nice move and sense of "playfulness" to it. There is a lot of detail happening overall though, which makes my eye a bit confused as to the hierarchy of elements and the focal point. It'd be nice to have less definition going on in the grass and more in the puppy's fir -- possibly even the stick (it gets pretty lost).
The black and photo is really nice but maybe it would be stronger if you had cropped it or placed the dogs face more off center.

ReplyDeleteI think they both have very sound composition. The tetrad in the color one I feel is very subtle but I think it worked well.
