  1. I really like both of these compositions. I think that the black and white is successful because the tree leads your eye up to the rest of the piece, though I think that if there was a little bit more of that contrast (like if the tree were a little bit thicker) it would be even more successful.

  2. Black and White could have a better pronounced focal point.

  4. Your color against a neutral photo is awesome! It really exemplifies how color creates a focal point, gives emphasis, and just overall depth to a photograph.

  5. I like the contrast in the color one. I do agree with Jessica that the B&W one is missing just a tad bit more contrast.

  6. Your photos are awesome! I like the dynamic angle that you feature in your color image. The minimal lighting on the tree really helps it become the darkest-value shape in the picture. The way the dark branches are shown in between the bunches of leaves makes for a solid composition.
The black and white is also a super-effective image. I definitely think that being in color would take away from it. The branches in the corner are a good "anchor" for the eye, especially as they come up to the darkest area on the mountain. I don't think it needs any changing! Great job!

  7. I like both of your pictures! The first one doesnt really have a clear emphasis, but is still really nice colors and negative space.
